I opened my eyes;

Most of things that I do, the decisions that I make, I base it all on my faith. I'm a Christian and my life is so great. Watching Arsenic and Old Lace a question popped up in my mind. It might have absolutely nothing to do with the film but I was wondering, did it ever came in their minds that maybe faith could have saved them from all the troubles that they went through?  Just a thought I would like to share!

  1. Runy, I truly agree and I loved what you said in your post. I also am a Christian and I never thought about that question you asked in your blog. I had never thought about it that way. Great thinking outside of the box. I enjoyed Arsenic and Old Lace. I thought it was really funny. I like to watch black and white movies. My grandma watches them all the time and they are kind of special to me. I liked the storyline. Movies were really great back then when they did not have all the cursing and not so clean situations. Thanks for your comment, it helped me to think a different way to!!!

  2. I agree with you Runy. I think that faith could have saved them from all the troubles they went through; especially aunt Abby and Martha. Maybe if Abby and Martha Brewster would have taken religion more seriously they would have not killed so many people. In Cristianity it is a sin to kill. The two aunts thought that they were doing the lonely old men a favor by sending them to the other world when really they were only hurting them. Just because the old men were old and lonely did not mean they wanted to die. I do believe that faith could have prevented all the trouble that happened.

  3. Sadly I do not think any form of religion may have stopped them. They are psychopaths, and as such they have no regard for human life at all. That is what makes them so dangerous, and yet so interesting; their complete lack of empathy. Aunt Abby and Martha are obsessed with this task they must compulsively perform. And obviously the pair receives enjoyment out of it. After such a large number of victims they have perfected their craft, so nothing will stop them. It is quite grim to think that the divine healing power of religion can’t save those that are causing the world most of its harm.
